EMBASSY OF ECUADOR CALLS SPAIN EXTENDS THE TERM OF REGISTRATION OF FOREIGN electoral rolls

The Embassy of Ecuador has requested the Government of Spain to extend the deadline for registering on electoral lists for foreigners who wish to exercise their right to vote in municipal elections of May 22, 2011 .

A communication to this effect was sent last Friday, January 7, by Ambassador Galo Chiriboga Zambrano to senior vice president and Spain's Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba.

In his letter, the diplomat reminded that the registration on the electoral register is a prerequisite for them to vote in the upcoming municipal elections Ecuadorian citizens and other nationals resident in Spain, whose countries have signed agreements in this field.
